An extended field of view afforded by the SIGMA 105mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art lens enabled this dual composition from the constellation of Scorpius. The Rho Ophiuchi Complex, one of the most colourful regions of the night sky together with the Blue Horsehead Nebula, IC 4592, which is lit by Nu Scoropii. At the rear of the head is the small reflection nebula, IC4601, which is lit by two double stars. The area consists of reflection nebula (yellow/blue), emission nebula (magenta) and dark nebula. The star clusters, M4 is also clearly visible and very well resolved for such a wide field image. Although reflection nebula are usually blueish in colour (for the same reason the sky is blue), the region around the bright star Antares reflects the colour of this old, red, super giant. The dense star cloud at the bottom of the image is part of the main body of the Milky Way.
